Center Description :
HI Jiangsu Ear and Hearing Center, established in July 2002, is in the Jiangsu Province Hospital, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. Its primary mission includes the diagnosis and treatment center of ear diseases and hearing disorders, as well as serving as the main teaching and research center for ear sciences and audiology in Nanjing Medical University. Medical treatment, teaching, research and public ear and hearing care are the main activity of the Center, delivered by staff of the Ear and Hearing Unit of the Otolaryngology Department. The administrative affairs are coordinated by the university hospital. The Center actively focuses on the Hearing International’s mission: Better Hearing and Balance for All, and additionally, has actively participated in the WHO‘s project of the global prevention of deafness and hearing loss, since 1998.

- Newborn hearing screening, evaluation and management.
- Examination, diagnosis and medical treatment of tinnitus and vertigo.
- Diagnosis and surgical management of chronic ear diseases.

Outreach Activities
World Hearing Day
To enhance citizens’ awareness of ear and hearing care, the Chinese government designated March 3 as the “National Ear Care Day” in 2000. The success of the national publicity campaign on prevention and treatment of ear diseases and hearing loss attracted the attention of the WHO, with its declaration of this date as “International Ear Care Day” at the 1st International conference on prevention and rehabilitation of hearing impairment, organized by WHO and China Disabled Persons Federation (CDPF) in Beijing April 2007, accepted by WHO in 2013,and promoted as “World Hearing Day (WHD)” in 2015. Hearing International Jiangsu Center is one of the creators and active participant of this special day and event, making an important contribution to promoting the development of ear and hearing health care worldwide.
