Together, We Work – So all can hear

Hearing International is an International Non-Governmental Charity Organization established in 1992 as an umbrella organization, linked with the International Federation of Otorhinolaryngological Societies (IFOS) and the International Society of Audiology (ISA), two professional organizations caring for the ear, nose, and throat and hearing disorders.  Hearing International is registered as a Public charity Organization in the USA, under Michigan’s Law.  It has its own constitution and bylaws, with day-to-day governance by an Executive Board.  Membership of the Executive Board are elected by HI General Assembly.

Hearing international seeks to align otologists, audiologists, hearing interventionists, deaf educators, and hearing device manufacturers, all with technical know-how and the understanding of world standards for consumer group to lay the fundamental ground work at a grass-root, level.  Through education, we can achieve our ultimate goal of Healthy Ears and Hearing for All.

The Hearing International mission of Healthy Ears and Hearing for All will be achieved through the education of our patients, their families, primary caregivers, and our otolaryngology and audiology colleagues throughout the world.  Through centers of excellence in developing and developed countries, we hope to improve the quality of life of individuals worldwide with diseases of the ear, hearing loss, and balance disturbances.  Our focus is not missions based, but rather training the trainers.  We firmly adhere to the old adage of “give a man a fish and you cure his hunger for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Members of Hearing International include individuals, national committees, national chapters, non-governmental organizations, manufacturers and consumer organizations from all over the world.  Hearing International also recognized HI-IFOS-ISA Centers in different countries as working partners and program implementation bodies.  Presently, eleven active centers exist and we welcome others to join us in our efforts of education and improvement of hearing health.
